The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra Produces Community Children’s Concert Inspired By Latin Culture

On Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10:00 AM, guest conductor, Francisco Noya, will lead the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra through an educational experience for children/students of all ages, in Powers Auditorium at the DeYor Performing Arts Center. This concert will introduce children to classic Latin and Spanish music, such as La Bamba, Tico-Tico no Fubá, and many other known classics. This educational program for children/students will showcase how historic events have affected Latin music in different regions.

Guest conductor, Francisco Noya, began his professional journey in Venezuela as conductor of the Youth Orchestra of Valencia. Noya earned degrees in composition and conducting from Boston University, serving as assistant conductor for the Caracas Philharmonic and the Teatro Teresa Carreño. He has made significant contributions as Music Director of the Empire State Youth Orchestra, leading them on European tours and performing at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and Tanglewood. Noya holds the distinction of being a member of the conducting faculty at the Berklee College of Music and is currently the Music Director of the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are available to students and caregivers of public and private schools, day care facilities, home schools, troops, and other extracurricular programs at a fee of $5. All children must be accompanied by a guardian or caregiver. No more than one guardian or caregiver per child, the exception being multi-child day care facilities. The performance duration is 45 minutes. 

A full-length concert with guest conductor Noya, “Latin Fire”, will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 7:30 PM, also in Powers Auditorium.
Tickets for both the educational experience and the full length concert are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased Monday through Friday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm by calling 330-259-9651, or in person at The DeYor Performing Arts Center box office. Tickets are also available 24 hours a day online at youngstownsymphony.com
