YOUNGSTOWN SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRA
The Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra is open to area students, ages 13-18, by audition and presents three concerts annually. The director, Stephen L. Gage, and assistant director, Richard Smrek, are retained by the Youngstown Symphony Society to provide artistic leadership. Youth Orchestra members rehearse each Monday during the school year at the DeYor Performing Arts Center from 6 – 8:30 PM.

The Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra is announcing auditions for
Wind, Brass, Percussion and String positions for the 2011-2012 season.
WINDS, BRASS AND PERCUSSION
(flute/piccolo, clarinet, oboe/English horn, bassoon, trumpet, French horn in F, trombone, tuba, percussion)
Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 1 - 7 PM
Monday, September 12, 2011 from 6 - 10 PM
STRINGS
(violin, viola, cello, string bass)
Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 1 - 8 PM
Monday, September 20, 2010 from 6 - 9 PM
REQUIREMENTS
Winds and brass must prepare a Class A solo from
Ohio Music Educators or the Pennsylvania Music Educators list.
String players must prepare no less than a Class B solo from
Ohio Music Educators or the Pennsylvania Music Educators list

ELIGIBLE
All Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra members beginning their High School Senior year who have performed with the Youth Orchestra for at least one year.
REQUIREMENTS
All Concerto Competition participants must have their solo selection approved by
Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra Director Dr. Stephen L. Gage prior to Concerto Competition registration.
Please contact Dr. Gage at slgage@ysu.edu
All Concerto Competition participants must provide their own piano accompanist.
Audition time not to exceed 10 minutes.
